B. Introduction to TEST
Tutorial: The most detailed (and latest) source of information on TEST. The Daemons menu has 15 sections, each having a separate Manual and hands-on Examples sub-sections. Slide Show: The first 10-20 slides from Slide Show introduce TEST visually. Requires high speed connection or locally installed copy of TEST.
Task Bar Home: Register or switch server using this page; Daemons: Begin here for systematically locating the right daemon for the right problem; Map: A clickable tree structure representing the organization of the daemons; Slides: A visual manual for TEST; Tutorial: A hands-on manual; Problems: A multi-media presentation of thermodynamic problems and examples; VT Fifteen chapters of animations explaining how thermodynamic systems work; Help The current page.

C. The World of Daemons
Image of a Daemon A daemon is a smart thermodynamic calculator. There are more than one hundred daemons in TEST. The TEST-Map (linked from Task Bar) provides a bird's eye view and quick links to major classes of daemons. Classify a Daemon Read the Navigation section of Tutorial to understand how thermodynamic systems (and, therefore, daemons) are classified.
Material Models The last step in launching a daemon is to select a material model by classifying the working substance. Material models are discussed in the States sub-section of Tutorial linked from Daemons menu. A Visual Example This series of slides takes you through a state daemon (high-speed connection or local installation is recommended to browse the Slide Show).

D. State Daemons - The Building Block
Background/Manual Some theory behind thermodynamic states and properties. Hands-on Examples Follow the step-by-step instructions to recreate the solutions.
Visual Examples This part of Slide Show takes you through a few state daemons (requires local installation of TEST). TEST-Code Regenerate a solution using the TEST-Code generated by Super-Calculate operation.
State Properties Example of a volume state evaluation. Volume vs. Surface State Example of a surface state evaluation.
Example: Volume State Example of a volume state evaluation. Example: Surface State Example of a surface state evaluation.

E. Generic Closed System Daemons
Closed Process Daemons Background and manual of three daemons (uniform system, non-uniform and mixing, non-uniform and non-mixing) that perform mass, energy, entropy and exergy analysis of closed systems executing thermodynamic processes. Hands-on Examples Step-by-step instructions to solve problems involving closed processes.
Visual Examples This part of Slide Show takes you through screen shots of the solution screens (requires local installation of TEST). Closed Steady Daemons Heat engines, refrigerators, and heat pump can be analyzed as closed steady systems if the internal details of the cycles are not of interest.

F. Generic Open System Daemons
Open Steady Daemons Background and manual of three daemons (single-flow, multi-flow and mixing, multi-flow and non-mixing) that perform mass, energy, entropy and exergy analysis of closed systems executing thermodynamic processes. Hands-on Examples Step-by-step instructions to solve problems involving open systems.
Visual Examples This part of Slide Show takes you through screen shots of the solution screens (requires local installation of TEST). Open Process Daemons This part of Tutorial presents hands-on examples of analysis of open processes.

G. Specific Closed Cycle (Reciprocating Engines) Daemons
Background/Manual Background and manual of the closed cycle daemons that analyze reciprocating engine cycles such as Otto cycle, Diesel cycle, Dual cycle, etc. Hands-on Examples Step-by-step instructions to solve reciprocating cycle problems.
Visual Examples This part of Slide Show takes you through screen shots of the solution screens (requires local installation of TEST).

H. Specific Open Cycle (Gas and Vapor Power and Refrigeration Cycle) Daemons
Background/Manual Background and manual of the open cycle daemons that analyze vapor and gas power cycles as well as refrigeration and heat pump cycles. Hands-on Examples Step-by-step instructions to solve steam power, gas turbine, and refrigeration problems.
