Sixteen Classes of Systems
Most thermodynamic problems involve some kind of a system, broadly defined as anything with a well-defined boundary. Starting with Open vs. Closed systems, sub-categories of systems are defined that are governed by same set of balance equations. To help navigate to the appropriate system for a given problem, TEST provides a step-by-step approach starting with the Daemons page as well as a quick-launch Map for the advanced users.

Simplification Tables
To help classify a system, each system page offers a simplification table to make the system more specific to the problem at hand. Each table contains an exhaustive set of answers to a particular question. To classify a system completely, at the most six questions need to be answered.

Balance Equations and System Sketch
The help icon under the simplification table brings up the system schematic and balance equations for mass, energy and entropy that are customized to the system described on that page. As the system evolves through the series of simplifications, so do the system schematic and balance equations. The Analysis panel of the system daemons display the customized balance equations.

Examples
The Slide Show contains screenshots of system daemons in action under specific catetories. The Tutorial contains an elaborate section on the daemons, divided into ten sub-sections. Each such sub-section contains a Theory part and a Practice part with a number of solved examples.  The Archive contains fifteen chapters of solved problems complete with the TEST-Codes. The daemon-specific Tutorial, Slide Show and Archive are also cross-linked through help icons from the daemon pages.
