Six models for hundreds of working fluids. Gas mixtures. Moist air. |
Other State Daemons: Although we have discussed only a single state daemon,
the H2O volume state daemon, in the States>Manual
section, other state daemons are quite similar in look and feel.
In a gas daemon, for instance, you have to pick a gas name from a gas-selector, which, like other state properties, can be used as a parameter. After solving a problem, the solution can be repeated for a different gas by choosing it from the gas-selector and clicking the Super-Calculate button. If the working fluid is a binary mixture, two gases, Gas-A and Gas-B, must be selected and the mixture described in terms of mass fraction, x_A, or mole fraction, y_A, of Gas-A . A 0% Gas-A means the mixture contains only Gas- B. For a general mixture (n-PG or n-IG model) of any number of gases, the composition must be set first by entering the percentage or masses of each species in the mixture. As new species are added, the mass and mole fractions as well as all material properties are calculated and displayed. To delete a species a zero amount of that species is added to the mixture. Similarly, to change the amount of a species, it is added as a new species overwriting the old amount. Once the mixture is set, it is frozen in the sense that it must be the same for all states computed. If the mixture is changed, Super-Calculate must be used to update all calculations. Moist Air is a special binary mixture of dry air and water vapor and requires additional thermodynamic properties, such as relative humidity, dew point temperature etc., to describe a State . Instead of traditional thermodynamic plot, the states are plotted on the psychrometric chart . The list of state properties can be somewhat different among different State daemons. The color-coding, discussed above, can be of help in understanding any unfamiliar property. Also, remember that moving the pointer over a property or any other widget brings up its definition on the Message Panel. You will find a number of states examples on the Applications page, Slide Show and the Problems . Try them all! |
