Ph.D. Zdravko Vnučec, associate professor, was born on January 8th, 1945 in Varazdin, Croatia, attended primary school and secondary technical school for mechanical technicians in Varazdin, ending it in 1963. He enrolled in 1963 in the university course at the Faculty of mechanical engineering and naval architecture University of Zagreb receiving B.Tech. degree in 1969 in Mechanical engineering program. In same Faculty he received M.Sc. degree in 1975 in scientific area Engineering mechanics of materials and Ph.D. degree in 1998 in scientific area Mechanical engineering.
History of professional, pedagogical and scientific achievements:
From January to September 1970 worked as junior researcher at Institute of naval architecture in Zagreb. 1970-1978 worked as assistant at Department of Engineering mechanics, Faculty of mechanical engineering and naval architecture University of Zagreb. 1978-1990 worked as research scientist/assistant, 1990-1995 as lecturer, 1995-2000 as senior lecturer, 2000-2003 as assistant professor and 2003- so far worked as associate professor in Engineering mechanics and Strength of materials, Measurements techniques at Department of mechanical design, Faculty of mechanical engineering in Slavonski Brod, J.J.Strossmayer University of Osijek.
Research and scientific interests:
In scientific areas Strength of materials and Technical measurements he works on calculation and examine of strength of metallic constructions applying the method of strain gauges, on investigations of strength of steel constructions with applications to method of photoelasticity. Also he works on investigation of advanced composite materials and methods of measurement techniques to the application of these methods to practical cases. He makes software in field of experimental stress analysis, strength of steel and composite structures. He was writing web pages of “Strength of materials” with software package for students.
Membership in important national organizations: The Croatian Society of Mechanics, The Croatian Metrology Society, The Croatian Society of Mechanical Engineering. He was a co-author on 3 books, author or coauthor of 23 science and 4 professional papers that are published in proceeding of international research/expert conferences. He published in technical journals as author or co-author 8 scientific and 4 professional papers. He was collaborator in 13 scientific projects.
Languages: English, German and Russian. He is married and has two adult sons.
