Dr.sc. Ivan Vitez, full professor (second choice) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME) in Slavonski Brod, J.J. Strossmayer University of Osijek was born 1942 in Vrbica, Đakovo. He graduated in 1965 at Metallurgical Faculty (MF) Zenica, University of Sarajevo. He worked from 1966 until 1990 at Metallurgical Institute (MI) Zenica. From 1990 until 1994 he worked at the FME in Zenica, and from 1995 he work at the FME in Slavonski Brod.
Since beginning of his work at MI Zenica he has been working in scientific research work in the field of Physical Metallurgy, especially material testing, standardization, application and development of new materials and testing methods. He defended his Master’s Degree in 1979, and took his Ph.D. in 1989 at MF Zenica, University of Sarajevo, B&H.
He took part in 18 specialized courses in abroad in the fields of physical metallurgy and mechanical engineering, and he was mentor to 42 engineers in metallurgy and mechanical engineering.
He published 142 scientific works and 92 profesional papers in Croatia and abroad, 5 textbooks and 5 chapters in scientific books till now. For his scientific work he was awarded with several prices and acknowledges, such as Honorary Plaque of MF Zenica and of MI Zenica, Decoration for Work and Plaque of the Town of Zenica, Certificate of DAAAM Int. Vienna 2006, Marquis Who is Who in Science and Engineering 2006-2007 (Ninth Edition).
He is member of Management Board of Croatian Metallurgical Society.
